As a 90402 resident, you have probably noticed the marked ADT/SMPA patrol cars that frequent your street, but maybe the significance of their presence never occurred to you.

Every day, three patrol cars cover the SMPA area, and for one 8 hour period, the area is covered by two cars.  These patrols are furnished under a contract with ADT and are paid for with SMPA membership dues. Each of the patrol units consists of an armed patrol officer and a state of the art radio-dispatched patrol vehicle.  These vehicles are on our streets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  While on regular patrol, they don’t leave Santa Monica, and they don’t cross Montana Avenue.

The well trained officers are on constant lookout for suspicious persons and activity in the area, and their mere presence is an effective deterrent to any criminals they encounter.  In addition to looking for suspicious activity while on patrol, they are also on call for any reports from members to alert them to suspicious activity.  This effectively makes SMPA a large neighborhood watch network with patrol officers on call to demonstrate their presence when it may be needed.

Additionally, the patrol officers are constantly performing services for members found on the “member benefits” page - all of which directly contribute to their crime deterrence mission.

SMPA’s management team is constantly monitoring the patrol service to ensure the members are receiving excellent service.  ADT is held to a high degree of scrutiny in the SMPA area.  As a result, they offer this neighborhood the highest degree of service they can offer.

SMPA is an excellent supplement to the capable police force in Santa Monica.  Next time you see a police officer, ask what he or she thinks of SMPA.
